HUAWEI yesterday confirmed the company has participated in a phone network installation bid for the London Underground.

A senior executive of the company said the bid is worth about 50 million pounds (US$81 million).

"Huawei did participate in the bid, but I'm not supposed to give any more details," the executive said. "We have been engaged in providing safe and hi-tech telecommunication services to the UK."
