Taiwan-based lighting company Tons Lightology expects LED lighting to account for 50-55% of its revenues in 2011 and LED lighting shipment target for the year is 10 million units.

Tons' 2010 revenues were NT$1.036 billion (US$35.023 million), up from NT$675 million in 2009, and unaudited EPS came to NT$2.11. With strong growth projected for its LED luminaire portfolio, 2011 revenues will rise 40%. The company will be listed on Taiwan's Emerging Stock Market on February 25 and plans to apply for over-the-counter trading in the fourth quarter.

Tons pointed out that 2011 is the beginning of a high growth period for LED lighting, and therefore strengthening its market position right now is critical for harvest over the next three years. The company will begin its capacity expansion plan in the second half of 2011 and be ready for production in 2012.

Europe, Asia Pacific and America represent 58%, 25% and 10% respectively of Tons sales in 2010. For 2011, the percentages will vary modestly with both Asia and America gaining shares.

Tons main suppliers are Osram, Lumileads, Nichia and Everlight Electronics. It has entered the supply chain of the ODM of major LED luminaire vendors. ODM sales constitute more than 90% of Tons' revenues.

Tons targets mainly the business and professional LED lighting segments and it has mid-term goals to establish an own brand as well.
