Touch panel maker Young Fast Optoelectronics has announced revenues of NT$915 million (US$31.12 million) for February 2011, a decrease of 13.87% on year.
Revenues for the first two months of 2011 totaled NT$2.16 billion, up 0.02% on year.
Young Fast indicated that the revenue drop was expected due to delays in production adjustment and fewer work days due to the Lunar New Year holiday. But the company expects production to return to normal due to increasing orders for projected capacity touch panels.
Through production adjustments in January-February 2011, capacitive touch panel revenues have exceeded 50% of the company's revenues, up from almost 40% in the fourth quarter of 2010.
Young Fast's major clients are HTC, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, and with Nokia contributing to orders starting in the fourth quarter of 2010, Young Fast expects to see significant growth in orders in the second quarter of 2011.
Capacitive touch panels are expected to account for over 60% of the handset market in 2011, and dominate the tablet PC touch panel market.
