Passive component makers Yageo and Walsin Technology (WTC) have both reported a decline in revenues for February due to reduced work days and impact of Intel's chipset problem.
Yageo posted consolidated revenues of NT$1.806 billion (US$61.4 million) for February, down 21.1% sequentially but up 2.3% on year. January and February revenues combined were NT$4.095 billion, up 5.9% from a year ago.
WTC February revenues reached NT$1.117 billion, declining 13.5% from the previous month.
However, most passive component suppliers are positive over the launch of iPad 2, expecting the new tablet PC from Apple will help accelerate the growth of the global tablet market and therefore stir up demand for passive components.
Yageo's chip resistors have reportedly entered the supply chain for iPad devices and the company is expected to land orders from iPad-like vendors, according to industry sources.
