Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) has announced consolidated revenues of NT$13.87 billion (US$471.5 million) for February 2011, down 11.1% sequentially. However, February sales represent a 6.8% increase compared to the same period of 2010.

ASE's ATM (assembly test and material) business generated revenues of NT$9.42 billion in February, down 10% on month but up 8.3% on year. Sales of the company's core division for the first two months of 2011 totaled NT$19.88 billion, dropping 8.4% from the NT$21.71 billion posted a year ago.

ASE was quoted as saying in previous reports that its ATM unit would likely report flat growth sequentially in revenues for the first quarter. The estimate was given without taking into account currency exchange rate fluctuations.

Fellow IC packaging and testing company Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) saw sales drop in February 2011 compared to the prior month and the same period last year. SPIL's consolidated revenues for the first two months of 2011 were NT$9.425 billion, down 7.4% from a year earlier.

SPIL previously estimated that consolidated revenues for the first quarter of 2011 would drop by up to 5% sequentially, slightly outperforminging normal seasonal patterns.
