Chimei Innolux (CMI) has announced combined TFT-LCD revenues of NT$130.39 billion (US$4.42 billion) for the fourth quarter of 2010, a decrease of 4.9% sequentially.
Gross losses were NT$9.63 billion, for a gross margin of negative 7.4%. Operating losses totaled NT$17.8 billion with an operating margin of negative 13.6%. Net losses for the quarter amounted to NT$24.13 billion with an EPS of negative NT$3.79.
The quarterly losses were mainly due to CMI recognizing the anti-trust fine from the European Commission of EUR300 million (US$396.3 million), causing a loss of NT$14.84 billion for the whole year.
Large-size panel shipments for the quarter totaled 33.64 million units, up 9.9% sequentially with an ASP of US$99. Shipments for small- to medium-size panels were 123.1 million units, up 13.6% sequentially, and revenues for the segment totaled NT$28.59 billion, up 10.5% sequentially.
TV panels accounted for 35% of CMI's fourth-quarter revenues, 33% for LCD monitor panels, 6% for notebook panels and 22% for small- to medium-size panels. In terms of product size, 10-inch and smaller products accounted for 23% of the total revenues in the fourth quarter, 23% for 10- to 20-inch, 29% for 20- to 30-inch, 16% for 30- to 40-inch and 9% for 40-inch and larger.
Combined TFT-LCD revenues for 2010 totaled NT$480.04 billion with gross income of N$19.62 billion and 4.1% gross margin. Operating losses were NT$6.1 billion with an operating margin of negative 1.3%. Net losses for the year totaled NT$14.84 billion with an EPS of negative NT$2.29.
Large-size panel shipments for the year totaled 115.66 million units, and 394.94 million units for small- to medium-size panels.
CMI has also announced combined TFT-LCD related revenues of NT$37.4 billion (US$1.27 billion) for February 2011, a decrease of 7.4% sequentially.
Revenues for the first two months of 2011 totaled NT$77.72 billion.
CMI shipped 9.7 million large-size LCD panels in February, a decrease of 10.7% sequentially. Shipments for small- to medium-size panels totaled 29.3 million units, a decrease of 14.9% sequentially.
