Efun Technology has begun shipments of micro-lens film used in LCD TVs to Japan-based vendor Sharp, becoming the only producer of the product among Taiwan-based makers of optical film, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

Efun has been competing with South Korea-based makers for orders for micro-lens film from Taiwan- and South Korea-based makers of LCD TV panels, the source noted.

Efun started operation of its second production line of ITO film for use in touch panels with an initial monthly capacity of 150,000 square meters in February 2011, becoming the largest one among Taiwan-based ITO film makers, the sources indicated. With the additional capacity, sales revenues from ITO film as a percentage of Efun's total revenues will rise from 10% currently to 20% at the end of March 2011, the sources pointed out.

In addition, Efun has begun to ship multi-function film to South Korea-based panel makers, with order volumes expected to significantly increase beginning March 2011.
