Quotes for white-box Blu-ray Disc (BD) loaders, main bodies including BD chips and pick-up heads for being assembled into BD players or PC-use drives, have dropped to below US$20, according to Taiwan-based optical disc drive (ODD) makers.

As a result, production costs of BD players can be decreased to below US$70 and this will increase second-tier or white-box vendors' price competitiveness in comparison with international brands such as Sony, Samsung and Panasonic, the makers said.
