Hewlett-Packard (HP) CEO Leo Apotheker at its future strategy press conference has clarified that the company has no plans to sell its PC business and is already set to ship 100 million webOS-based devices including PCs, handsets, tablet PCs and printers in 2011.

As for questions that HP has been seeing its notebook market share in China dropping due to quality issues, Apotheker pointed out that HP has been working aggressively to resolve the quality issues and as the problems are gradually being resolved, HP is already seeing its market share rising back and it will continue to expand aggressively into emerging markets such as China and India.

The rumors of HP selling its PC business started with a Taiwan-based newspaper report stating that HP is considering selling its PC business with Korea-based Samsung Electronics the most likely buyer, while adding that HP was also in contact with players such as Lenovo and Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry). However, HP recently issued an official statement claiming that the rumor was baseless speculation.
