Taiwan received export orders with a total value of US$28.872 billion in February 2011, decreasing by 16.21% on month but increasing by 5.32% on year, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) on March 21. The on-month drop was mainly because of the Lunar New Year vacation in early February, MOEA pointed out.
Electronic products and IT/communication products were the top two categories in terms of export order value for February, with the former generating US$6.862 billion and the latter US$6.739 billion respectively.
The value for January-February stood at US$63.331 billion, rising by 9.61% on year.
