HTC is expected to launch HTC Flyer, its first tablet PC equipped with a 7-inch touch screen and Android 2.3, in small volumes mainly in the US market in late March or early April 2011, according to Taiwan-based touch panel suppliers in the supply chain.

Optical film and touch panel module shipments for Flyer started in March in small volumes, substantial volume production of Flyer will begin in May 2011. HTC has encountered some difficulty during the production process for Flyer, which was the main reason for the delay of mass production.

HTC plans to launch two Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) Flyer models in mid-2011, the sources indicated.

Touch panel and optical film suppliers for Flyer include Wintek, Cando, Buwon ACT and Wah Hong Industrial.
