Compal Electronics and Wistron, two major ODM notebook partners for Acer, are expected to see their notebook shipments affect by Acer's recent downward adjustment in its guidance for the first and second quarters of 2011, according to industry sources.

The two companies are likely to be forced to lower their shipment targets for the second quarter although they both declined to comment on Acer's downward adjustments for revenues in the first and second quarters , the sources said.

Earlier, industry sources predicted that Compal and Wistron would see their notebook shipments grow over 10% and 15-20%, respectively, on quarter in the second quarter.

For 2011, Acer is expected to outsource 40-50% of its notebook production to Compal and another 30% to Wistron, the sources estimated.
