Inventec is expected to see its LCD TV shipments gain momentum soon as the company has landed initial small-volume orders from Sharp, LG Display and Vizio in addition to growing orders from existing clients Sony and Toshiba, according to industry sources.

Inventec declined to comment on orders from individual clients or its TV shipments, as the company is currently in a silent period prior to a convertible bond issue.

Inventec shipped 4.5-5 million TVs in 2010 with shipments likely to reach 10 million in 2011, according to an internal estimate of the company.

Sharp is likely to outsource 10% of its TV production to OEM makers in 2011, compared to a ratio of 70-80% from Sony and 70% from Toshiba, according to an estimate of Digitimes Research.

Inventec is to benefit in the future should Sharp decide to increase its outsourcing to OEM makers, Digitimes Research added.

Inventec shipped 600,000 LCD TVs in February 2011 and total shipments for the first quarter are expected to top 1.5-2 million units, compared to 1.35 million shipped in the fourth quarter 2010, indicated industry sources.
