AU Optronics (AUO) shipped 10.71 million large-size LCD panels in March 2011 and generated revenues of NT$35.95 billion (US$1.24 billion) for the month, up 32.7% sequentially but down 11.6% on year. For the first quarter of 2011, revenues totaled NT$93.23 billion, declining 9.1% on quarter and 16.4% on year.

March shipments of large-size panels were up 30.1% from the previous month, while shipments of small- to medium-size panels increased 37.2% sequentially to 16.77 million units.

For the first quarter, shipments of large-size panels topped 28.4 million units, up 1.3% on quarter and 4.3% on year. But shipments of small- to medium-size panels were down 17.8% sequentially and 23.7% on year to 43.49 million units.

In other news, AUO has decided to hand out cash dividends of NT$0.40 for 2010.
