Catcher Technology, a Taiwan-based manufacturer of magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis, has announced consolidated revenues of NT$2.72 billion (US$93.7 million) for March 2011, up 38.5% sequentially and 90.7% on year. The company credited the results to rising shipments to the smartphone and tablet sectors.
Catcher's consolidated sales slid 1.6% sequentially to NT$7.1 billion in the first quarter, outperforming the company's estimate of an up to 10% drop.
Catcher said all production lines at its factory sites in China are currently running at full capacity. The company will install new equipment at the existing facilities during the first half of 2011, and new capacity should go online immediately to satisfy demand in the second half of the year.
In addition, Catcher said the company currently has no plans to move production facilities to inland China, which has attracted numerous component makers due to lower labor costs. Catcher's major production hub remains in southern China, and production of higher-end parts has been partially shifted to Taiwan.
