There were 8.7-9 motherboards shipped in the China market during the first quarter of 2011, 6.1-6.3 million units of which were shipped by six Taiwan-based vendors, Asustek Computer with 2-2.1 million units, Gigabyte Technology with 1.5 million units, Micro-Star International with 1.1-1.2 million units, Biostar Microtech International with 800,000 units, Elitegroup Computer Systems with 400,000 units and ASRock with 300,000 units, according to industry sources.

China-based vendors together shipped 2.6-2.7 million motherboards, the sources indicated.

Asustek's shipments to the China market accounted for 34.5-36.2% of its global shipments in the first quarter, while the proportion for Gigabyte was 30%, the sources noted.

The total volume of motherboards shipped to the China market in 2011 is forecast at 30-32 million units, compared with 25-28 million units shipped in 2010, the sources pointed out.
