Lextar Electronics, a supplier of LED epitaxial wafers, chips and packaging services, will seek to provide integrated LED lighting solutions, according to the Taiwan-based company's chairman and president David Su.
International vendors are now purchasing more integrated LED lighting solutions, which accounted for about 10% of their total LED lighting procurement value in 2010, and are expected to grow to 20% in 2011 and 50% in 2015, Su said, adding Lextar's integrated solutions are meant to boost ODM/OEM orders from the US, Europe and Japan.
Of Lextar's revenues for the first quarter of 2011, 30% came from LED lighting products, compared to 10% in 2010, Su noted.
Lextar's plants in Taiwan are currently equipped with more than 70 MOCVD sets. About one-third of them are used to process 2-inch epitaxial wafers, and the remaining 4-inch wafers, except for three that are devoted to 6-inch wafers, Su said.
A plant in eastern China will begin equipment installation in July-August and production at the end of 2011 or in early 2012, Su indicated.
