Taiwan-based Asustek Computer has landed orders for about 200,000 units of its Eee Pad Transformer in April, but due to a shortage of touchpanel related components, Asustek internally estimated it will only be able to ship less than 100,000 units in April, according to a Chinese-language Apply Daily report.

As Asustek internally expects to be able to resolve the shortage problem within the next two weeks, the company should be able to significantly reduce the shortage gap in May and if both shipments in May and June reach the company's expectations, the company will still be able to achieve its goal of seeing the tablet PC business contributing 5% of the total revenues in the second quarter, the paper added.
