Chimei Innolux (CMI) and its affiliated own-brand LCD TV vendor will soon jointly offer a 42-inch LCD TV featuring compliance with requirements for carbon neutrality, according to CMI.

The offering is in line with the Environmental Protection Administration's promotion of carbon neutrality and carbon management plans for industrial products, CMI indicated. The model is the world's first of its kind, CMI claimed.

Both companies will minimize total carbon emissions measured from the production of materials and components and assembly of the LCD TV, to packaging and delivery to end users as well as service life of the product based on PAS 2060 standards, CMI pointed out. Unavoidable carbon emissions in the entire process will be offset by purchasing carbon credits to reach net zero carbon emissions, CMI explained.

A 42-inch LCD TV with carbon footprint certification will release 1,800-2,000kg of carbon in its whole cycle, while the carbon-neutral model will emit only 950kg of carbon through carbon-minimizing plans, CMI said.
