Taiwan-based TFT-LCD panel maker Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) on April 28 released its unaudited financial report for the first quarter of 2011, posting a net loss of NT$2.33 billion (US$78.2 million).
CPT shipped 5.256 million large-sized TFT-LCD panels and 98.135 million medium- to small-sized panels during the first quarter of 2011, representing a sequential rise of 2.4% and drop of 7.9%, respectively and worth NT$15.55 billion in total. In addition, CPT shipped 1.122 million touch products in the first quarter.
CPT expects its shipment volume of large-sized panels in the second quarter of 2011 will grow on quarter and the corresponding average selling price will rise as well. CPT plans to increase output of panels used in e-book readers and touch products to improve its operating profitability.
CPT posted consolidated revenues of NT$16.67 billion, gross margins of -9.3%, a net operating loss of NT$3.53 billion and a net loss per share of NT$0.358 for the first quarter of 2011.
