Second-tier LCD panel makers Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) and HannStar Display have both reported narrowed losses for first-quarter 2011.
CPT's first-quarter net loss came to NT$2.326 billion (US$81.29 million), compared to NT$5.86 billion in net loss for the previous quarter.
HannStar's first-quarter net loss reached NT$1.441 billion, an improvement from the previous quarter's net loss of NT$4.011 billion.
Their better performance was due to larger proportions of small- to medium-size panels and of touch panels in their shipments, according to industry sources.
