Chip packaging and testing firms Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) and Silicon Precision Industries (SPIL) have reported sequential drops of 2.5% and 5.1%, respectively, in consolidated revenues for April 2011.
ASE's consolidated revenues, which included sales generated by Universal Scientific Industrial (USI), rose 9.8% from a year ago to NT$16.11 billion (US$563 million) in April 2011. But the figure showed a slight decrease compared to NT$16.58 billion in March.
Excluding USI, ASE revealed that sales of its core ATM (assembly test and material) business slid 2.1% on month to NT$10.76 billion in April. Revenues were 7.9% higher than the NT$9.97 billion registered in April 2010.
SPIL's consolidated revenues for April 2011 declined 5.1% sequentially and 11% on year to NT$4.79 billion. The company remarked previously that without considering exchange rate volatility, consolidated revenues would increase 5-10% sequentially in the second quarter.
