Solar cell makers suffer sequential falls in April revenues - ResearchInChina

Gintech Energy, Neo Solar Power, Solartech Energy, DelSolar and E-Ton Solar Tech, five Taiwan-based first-tier makers of crystalline silicon solar cells, had April 2011 revenues dropping on month by 24.31-58.51%, according to the companies.

Mainly because of slow demand in Europe, Taiwan-based makers reduced output to varying extents in April and, as inventories have increased and demand is still stagnant, output reductions in May are expected to rise from April, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

Global price-cut competition mainly lies in 220W PV modules made of polycrystalline silicon solar cells currently, while prices for PV modules of 250W or above made of monocrystalline cells remain stable but demand is much lower, the sources pointed out.
