Acer stated on May 10 that the globalization of its operations has been its established policy, and "de-Taiwanization" or the reverse, has never an issue. The statement comes as former CEO Gianfranco Lanci said during an interview with Mobilized that his efforts to push the company to become more mobile-focused and more global was viewed as a plan that would lead to a "de-Taiwanization" of the company.

Acer stressed that the nationality of its CEO is not important. Rather, it is concerned whether the CEO is able to sustain healthily and long-term development for the company.

Acer also noted that its smartphone business had been unable to develop efficiently under the direction of Lanci, resulting a pile-up of inventory and accounts receivables problems.

Lanci had also failed to come out with explanations earlier when the company was unable to deliver results that matched up with its targets in two consecutive quarters from October 2010 to March 2011, Acer noted.

Acer also stressed that it has begun shipping Android 3.0 tablet PCs, with volume trailing after only Motorola Mobility in the segment, contrary to Lanci's statement that Acer was late in the delivery of tablet PCs because it did not have the needed capabilities.
