Taiwan-based Delta Electronics' subsidiary in India on May 10 unveiled a new headquarters featuring green-building designs in Gurgaon City, Haryana State of India, according to the parent company.

The 4-story building housing Delta India Electronics' office comprises of such green features as: a roof-mounted 55KWp photovoltaic (PV) power-generating system; light penetration to maximize use of strong sunlight in northern India; adoption of LED street lamps and indoor lighting to save 35% energy as compared with conventional buildings; collection of rainwater and recycling of wastewater to consume 40% less water than conventional buildings; and use of eco-friendly building materials, Delta indicated.

Since it started to invest in India in 2003, Delta has set up production bases in Rudrapur, Gurgaon and Pondicherry as well as R&D centers in Gurgaon and Bangalore to produce power management devices, uninterruptible power supplies, video display solutions, industrial automation and related components.

Delta will also set up another base to produce PV inverters in Chennai, southeastern India, with initial investment of US$15 million, the company said. The production base will occupy a plot of about one hectare, with development to start in the second or third quarter of 2011 and completion scheduled for March 2012. Production of PV inverters will kick off in April 2012, with workforce expected to increase from 1,500 persons initially to 5,000 eventually.

Delta India Electronics generated revenues of US$200 million in 2010, accounting for 3% of Delta's consolidated revenues. When the new production base comes on line, the India subsidiary is expected to bring in revenues of US$300 million in 2012.

Delta on May 10 reported consolidated revenues of NT$14.257 billion (US$488 million) for April, dipping 6.98% on month but rising 2.03% on year, while January-April revenues rose 14.88% on year to NT$54.496 billion.
