PCB makers Tripod Technology and Global Brands Manufacture (GBM) both have seen their revenues slip sequentially but increase on year for April 2011. Despite sequential declines, both firms still look to a sequential growth in second-quarter revenues.

Tripod reported NT$3.71 billion (US$129.82 million) in consolidated revenues for April, down 4.5% on month but up 6.6% on year. January-April revenues totaled NT$14.41 billion, increasing 14% from a year earlier.

GBM saw consolidated revenues shed 5.9% sequentially but gain 7.7% on year to NT$3.31 billion in April. For the first four months of 2011, revenues reached NT$12.92 billion, up 16.3% on year.

Tripod is expected to post a 5% on-quarter growth in revenues in the second quarter thanks to strong demand for HDI boards from the smartphone and tablet PC segment, according to an estimate by industry sources.

GBM revealed that its shipments will resume momentum in May and June due to a sufficient supply of needed parts and components. A shortage of some key components forced the company to delay some shipments to May, said the company.
