Taiwan market: ViewSonic launches ViewPad 4 and V350 smartphone - ResearchInChina

ViewSonic has launched its ViewPad 4, an Android tablet PC, and V350, a WCDMA/GSM dual-mode smartphone, in the Taiwan market with suggested retail prices of NT$14,900 (US$518) and NT$9,900 respectively.

The 4-inchViewPad 4, which is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8255 1GHz processor, runs on Android 2.3 and has 512MB RAM and 2GB ROM memory capacity, and supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

With the launch of the ViewPad 4 and V350, ViewSonic aims to take up a 4% share in the local smartphone market within six months, according to Alan Chang, president of ViewSonic Asia Pacific.

Sales of smartphones in the Taiwan market are expected to top two million units in 2011 compared to 1.7-1.8 million units sold in 2010, Chang estimated. In order to reach its goal to gain a 4% share in the segment, ViewSonic aims to sell 20,000 tablet PCs and smartphones per quarter in the local market, Chang estimated.

Sales ViewSonic's 7-inch ViewPad 7 tablet PC have topped 20,000 units since the device was launched in December 2010, according to estimation by market sources.
