Taiwan-based LED packaging company Everlight Electronics has seen increasing orders for LED backlight units of LCD TVs and LED lighting products, with expectations of hitting record monthly consolidated revenues in the third quarter of 2011, according to the company.

Increasing orders are from 5-6 clients in China for LED backlight units of LCD TVs and monitors as well as from a few clients in Japan for LED backlight units of TVs, Everlight indicated. As price gaps between CCFL backlights and LED ones are narrowing, orders for LED backlight units are expected to continue to increase, Everlight noted. In addition, Everlight has become a supplier of LED backlight units for Taiwan-based vendors of tablet PCs.

For LED lighting, Everlight has become a partner to package LED chips into lighting products for Genesis Photonics, a Taiwan-based maker of LED epitaxial wafers and chips which has formed strategic cooperation with Potevio, a China-based state-owned maker of telecom equipment, to tap the China market. In addition, Everlight has received orders from Europe.
