Inventec has obtained orders for 30-33 models of business-use notebooks for shipments in 2012 from Hewlett-Packard (HP), with a total order volume of 11-12 million units, according to industry sources.
Inventec declined to comment.
Inventec has been a long-term notebook ODM for HP. During January-April 2011, HP accounted for 18-24% of Inventec's total notebook shipments and 15-19% of Foxconn's, the sources said.
While ASPs for consumer notebook models are on the decline, those for business-use models have rebounded, the sources indicated.
In order for better profitability, Inventec will focuses on business-use models and begun ODM production of tablet PCs and e-book readers. In addition to HP, Inventec undertakes ODM production for Apple, Dell, Toshiba and Barnes & Noble.
