Taiwan-based solar cell maker, E-Ton Solar, has reported a 41.88% sequential decrease in May revenues. PV paste provider, Giga Solar, also reported May revenues down 44.37% on month, and DelSolar reported a 16.9% monthly decrease in its May revenues.
E-Ton reported May revenues of NT$272 million (US$9.5 million), representing a 41.88% on-month decrease and 77.41% on-year decrease. Accumulated revenues from January-May were NT$5,209 million, a 15.94% decrease on year. E-Ton stated the focus now is to lower inventory.
DelSolar reported consolidated May revenues of NT$697 million, a 16.90% decrease compared with April, and 12.9% decrease compared with the same period last year. Accumulated revenues from January-May were NT$5,078 million, a 67.76% increase on year. In comparison with other solar firms, the decrease in revenues of DelSolar was milder.
Taiwan-based PV paste provider, Giga Solar, reported May revenue of NT$169 million, a 44.37% on-month decrease and a 0.44% on-year decrease. Accumulated revenue were NT$1,412 million, an 83.01% on-year increase. Giga Solar indicated June will see better performance as inventory in distribution channels clears.
The published performance indicates the impact of the weak market on Taiwan-based solar firms, especially while China-based integrated firms have become more competitive due to cost.
Two industry leading firms, Motech and Gintech, have not yet published their May revenues.
