LED lighting has been booming and many firms have been trying to enter the lucrative market. Robert Yeh, chairman of LED packaging house Everlight, has revealed the company aims to catch up with the top-two LED lighting firms, Philip and Osram, in 3-5 years.
Everlight began as an LED packaging house and slowly integrated upstream to secure material supplies.
Everlight has stated the focus for 2011 will be to strengthen its LED lighting brand. Revenues from lighting products are expected to break even in the next two years, added Everlight.
Yeh indicated that for many years, the performance of Everlight has been losing to Epistar. The challenge will increase due to the appreciation of the NT dollar in the first half of 2011. The appreciation, Yeh added, will consume 9% of revenues. However, Yeh remains optimistic about the third quarter.
Everlight plans to promote LED lighting products using two brands: Everlight and Zenano. The former will focus on the Greater China region and the latter markets in Europe.
Everlight is currently showcasing numerous products at Photonics Festival in Taiwan 2011 from June 14-16.
