Japanese stocks open higher amid political uncertainties

TOKYO, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Japanese stocks opened higher Monday on Wall Street's gains late last week, while uncertainties remain as the country is going to see its third prime minister in two years.

In the first 15 minutes of trading, the benchmark 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 6.49 points, or 0.07 percent, from Friday to 8,804.27.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 0.49 points, or 0.06 percent, to 756. 56.
