Taiwan-based AzureWave Technologies is capable of producing E2 FPC (EMI enhanced flexible printing circuit board) compact camera modules of 2.4-2.5mm in thickness for used in slim notebooks based on its PCB patents, and began small-volume shipments earlier in the fourth quarter of 2011, according to company president Ted Lee.

The company expects shipments of E2 FPC camera modules to significantly increase beginning the second half of 2012 when demand for ultrabooks grows along with Microsoft's launch of Windows 8, Lee indicated.
