Shanxi boosts electronic vehicles

North China’s Shanxi province plans to foster electric vehicle bases in the cities of Taiyuan, Jinzhong and Jincheng, according to its new suggestions on accelerating electric vehicles industry.

The suggestions involve market prospects , charging facilities and supporting policies.

The government will promote electric vehicles for public services and in urban-rural fringe areas, and expand the market to private cars by improving supporting facilities and preferential policies. The province is expected to have over 200,000 electric vehicles by 2020.

The province hopes to have charging facilities covering public areas, Party and government organizations in Taiyuan, Jinzhong and Jincheng by 2016, and over the whole province by 2020.

Issues in technologies, industrial standards and commerce were included in these suggestions. From the first day of 2016, electric vehicles that included in the list recommended by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, will receive subsidies from the provincial finance.

The province will step up efforts to build up an industrial chain from coal to vehicles. It hopes to achieve production capability to more than 120,000 electric vehiccles by 2020.
