BANK of East Asia has gained the go-ahead from the China Banking Regulatory Commission to set up a branch in Hefei, Anhui Province, as the lender expands its network on the Chinese mainland.

The bank's new branch, set to open in the second half of this year, will offer corporate and retail banking services. The bank has 47 outlets on the mainland.
