BEST Buy, the biggest electronics retailer in the United States, will open its second Chinese mainland outlet in Shanghai today, marking its accelerated pace of expansion.

The electronics retailer opens the new store in Zhongshan Park area almost two years after setting up its first store in the city's Xujiahui area.

"It has taken us 19 months to open (a second store) because this is a very long learning curve for us. And we have developed a sound partnership and ready to accelerate growth and start to open more stores here in China," said Robert Willett, chief executive officer of Best Buy International.

Best Buy plans to open another four outlets in Lianyang area, Super Brand Mall and Xindalu Square in Pudong and Xinzhuang area in Puxi by the end of this year.

The company also aims to add more outlets next year in Shanghai. But it declined to give specific number of stores to be opened as it depends on several external and internal factors.
