In the past five years, China has started 274 cooperative projects in the study of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with 42 countries and regions.
China's cooperation in the study of TCM is growing at an annual rate of over 30%, and now there are more than 170 pharmaceutical enterprises and more than 40 famous pharmacy institutes developing TCM-related products.
In Japan alone, there are nearly a hundred organizations and institutes with more than 30,000 researchers studying traditional Chinese medicine. Forty-four colleges and universities there have set up departments of traditional Chinese medicine. Now Japan is even planning to combine Chinese and Western medicine to create a new medical science.
Germany, Britain, and the USA are all paying special attention to acupuncture.Five of ten cooperative projects of the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine of the USA are related to traditional Chinese medicine, four of which are under direct cooperation with medical institutes in Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.
Now more and more countries are interested in starting such cooperation in the study of TCM, in the hope of helping to introduce the Chinese ancient science to all around the world.
