German solar module companies and Taiwan-based solar cell makers could soon end their price negotiation stalemate with strong demand from markets outside of Germany and the solar cell makers continuing to run at full capacity, according to sources form Taiwanese cell makers. .

Businesses from European module customers, particularly those in Germany, are showing signs of recovery recently after weeks of conservative orders, the sources indicated. Though it is still unclear whether solar cell prices will continue to trend up, at least there are no good reasons for prices to come down at present and the module makers are beginning to recognize that, the sources added. Spot prices for solar cells in August rose to US$1.43-1.45 from US$1.4 in July.

The sources pointed out that most of the increased orders currently are for outside of Germany, and therefore they are still unable to gauge the status of the world's largest solar installation market, which many believe is the key to the overall solar industry in the fourth quarter.

Taiwan cell makers Motech Industries, Gintech Energy, Neo Solar Power and E-Ton Solar Tech all ship a large portion of their products to European module companies.
