Notebook PCB supplier HannStar Board now expects its shipments for the third quarter of 2010 to decline 5-9% from the 22.9 million units shipped in the second quarter. Order visibility for the fourth quarter also remains unclear, according to the company.

HannStar Board previously predicted that shipments for the third quarter would grow 0-5% sequentially. Demand turned weaker than expected in the first week of September, and has remained slow since, the company indicated.

HannStar Board said orders for October remain similar to those received in September. Monthly orders are estimated at about seven million units at present, down from more than eight million in June, the company added.

HannStar Board said it will still be able to fulfill its shipment target of 80-90 million units for 2010, despite the fact that it is giving a pessimistic outlook for the latter part of the year.
