Inventec to invest US$4.9 million in China component maker

Inventec will invest US$4.9 million in an case and structural components maker in Kunshan, eastern China, for a 19.68% stake, in a bid to reinforce its component supplies, according to the company.

Inventec's new plant in Chongqing, Sichuan province recently commenced operations. The company is expected to start shipping from the facility to Singapore soon, with plans to focus on production for the India, Indonesia and Europe markets.

Inventec is understood to be one of Hewlett-Packard's (HP) major contract makers. Inventec has grabbed orders of around five million enterprise notebooks and four million consumer models from HP for 2011.
