United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) has announced net sales of NT$9.56 billion (US$335 million) for April 2011, down 0.22% sequentially but up 2.6% on year.

UMC accumulated NT$37.68 billion in revenues from January through April, showing a 4.57% rise compared to the same period of 2010.

UMC expects both shipments and ASPs to stay flat sequentially in the second quarter, the company said at a recent investors conference. The communications sector would show its relative weakness compared to the consumer and PC segments.
