Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) announced on June 14 it plans to officially spin off its solar and solid state lighting business units on August 1. TSMC's shares of Motech will be transferred to the new solar business unit.

The proposition was passed at a recent shareholders meeting.
