Products from the Chinese clothing giant Li Ning have been reported to contain the toxic chemical nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPE), according to a report released by Greenpeace on Tuesday, August 23.

Greenpeace's study, which tested clothing products in China, Argentina, Austria, Germany and fourteen other countries, found remains of NPE within 52 products from 14 popular clothing brands, including Adidas, Li Ning, H&M and Converse. NPE, which is a toxic "environmental hormone", will break down to form nonylphenol (NP). NP is a more toxic chemical which will reduce the sperm count in the male human body even when discharged at low levels.

In response to the Greenpeace report, Li Ning has denied any wrongdoing and has announced that all of their products are compliant with the EU standard.
