   Date:2006/12/31

West Pharmaceutical Services Inc., which makes components and systems for injectable drug delivery, said it plans to spend about $80 million on two new plants in China.

A new plastic injection-molding plant is expected to be completed in 2009, and the company has entered a joint venture with a local medical rubber manufacturer on a new rubber components plant slated for 2011.

The plastics plant initially will be dedicated to supporting a customer's requirements for co-molded infusion bottle closures for the domestic market. Acquisition of land and arrangements for the necessary utilities and improvements to support the new plants are being finalized.

The company anticipates investing a total of about $80 million in the two China plants over the next five years.
