   Date:2006/12/31

Moutai and Wuliangye, the top two spirits producers in China begin their competition in grape wine market.

On 2006 Autumn Sugar & Wine Fair held in Xi'an, both Moutai and Wuliangye try to promote newly introduced wine. The wine prices of them are neck and neck. Wuliangye launched six kind of wine, price from twenty RMB to two hundred RMB, Moutai red wine's price is exactly the same.

When released to launch grape wine in 2002, Moutai boasted sales value will reach hundreds million RMB. Early in 2006 general manager Fuzhong of Wuliangye bragged about sales value of 2 billion RMB and becoming number three in China grape wine market.

In March Wuliangye invested 200 million RMB in grape wine, which astonished market. After five monthes, sales manager Liu Shuquan is satisfied with their achievement, "From March to now Our production has reached 10 thousand ton, sales value reaches 50 million RMB."

Wuliangye is the biggest spirits producer in China, this year Wuliangye invested a lot to import overseas bulk wine and bottled in China. Wuliangye will purchase a French Chateau.

Industry experts expressed their disapproval to spirits giants entering grape wine market. Several years ago Moutai began to launch grape wine, but it has not realized the sales volume it promised.
