Simplo forecast 2011 net profit 1.3 times capital

   Date:2011/10/24

Simplo Technology, a Taiwan-based maker of battery packs used in notebooks, released its financial report for the third quarter of 2011 and financial forecast for the fourth quarter at an October 21 investors conference, with projected 2011 net profit of NT$3.642-3.648 billion (US$126-127 million) 1.30-1.31 times its current paid-in capital.

Although the global PC market may turn stagnant in the fourth quarter of 2011, Simplo is optimistic about its operations in the quarter, company chairman Raymond Sung indicated. Simplo will focus its capital spending in 2011 on increasing the automation of its production lines, Sung pointed out.

In view of slowing down growth in the global PC market, Simplo has stepped into R&D of batteries used to power electric cars, motorcycles and bicycles, with batteries used in electric motorcycles focusing on the Taiwan market and those used in electric bicycles on exports to Europe, Sung indicated.
