Cross-Strait cooperation in the automotive industry looks set to strengthen in 2012

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai December 1) - As the automobile market in mainland China continues to grow, auto part suppliers and distributors based in Taiwan look to make substantial gains.

Economic Daily reports Tainan-based auto part maker Tong Yang Group as expecting a ten percent increase in the mainland market next year. Tong Yang, much like other Taiwan-based companies, sees the majority of its business from mainland automobile manufacturers. It currently has a strong partnership with GAC Group, and expects to be receiving orders from Fiat's Asian branch next year. Its new factory in Foshan, Guangdong, is expected to increase production at that time.

TungThih Electronic is another company that looks forwards to increased orders mainland automotive enterprises next year. It expects mainland demand to help boost its sales returns by 40 percent.

In order to foster increased cross-Strait cooperation in the fields of auto part manufacturing, as well as automotive technology and testing, the National Development and Reform Commission has held several meetings with economic management agencies in Taiwan.
