The global LED lighting market continues to heat up with Japan being the biggest market. According to studies, Japan's December LED light tube penetration rate reached 40%. The industry anticipates significant growth in China's LED lighting market due to strong promotion by the 12th Five-Year Plan.

Industry sources noted the development of LED lighting in different regions has been quite diversified. In Europe and the US the business and industrial LED lighting segments have been the largest markets while Japan has been developing its residential LED lighting market. In Japan, growth of LED light bulbs and tubes has been the most significant. China has been focusing on outdoor lighting such as street lamps.

China currently has a low LED lighting penetration rate. According to studies, LED lighting penetration was 1% in 2011, but market watchers expect to see significant growth.
