Taiwan recorded a manufacturing production index (2006 as base year) of 113.58 for January 2012, decreasing 10.83% on month and 16.92% on year, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) on February 2012.

The decrease was mainly because of fewer working days arising from the Lunar New Year in late January, MOEA said.

The information technology, communications and electronics industries saw their January index of 154.14 slip 7.42% on month and 15.86% on year.
