Toyota's sales in China last month totaled 66,800 vehicles, the Guangzhou Daily reported today. The figure represents growth of 51 percent for the Japanese manufacturer.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Toyota sold a total of 125,500 vehicles in China in the first two months of the year. The manufacturer was able to recover from low sales in January, which were due to the early timing of the Spring Festival holiday this year, to maintain steady overall sales growth of 1.5 percent.

Sales of Toyota vehicles, both imported and from both of its Chinese joint ventures, totaled 848,317 vehicles last year, growing five percent from 2010. Toyota hopes to sell over one million vehicles this year and 1.5 million in 2015.
